This notice explains how betas handles personal information when you browse the board, sign in, submit a product, apply to a beta, or join the editorial email. It should be read with our Terms of Service.
Information we collect
- Account information: your Google account name, email address, profile image, and account identifiers when you sign in.
- Product submissions: builder contact details, product copy, links, access settings, logos, cover images, and the history of review decisions.
- Beta applications: your profile and contact details, the reason you provide, consent records, and application status.
- Newsletter information: your email address, confirmation state, source, and unsubscribe records.
- Service activity: security logs and limited event data such as listing views, outbound clicks, application starts, likes, featured-placement impressions, approximate network data, device/browser information, timestamps, and referral source.
Why we use it
We use personal information to operate accounts; review and publish listings; connect testers with product teams; send service messages; deliver a separately requested newsletter; rank and improve the board; measure featured placements; prevent fraud and abuse; protect the Service; comply with law; and resolve disputes. We do not sell personal information.
Closed-beta applications
When you apply to a closed beta, we share the application with the owner of that listing so the owner can evaluate and operate the beta. That owner handles the information under its own privacy notice and legal responsibilities. Our Terms require builders to use it only for that beta, not to sell it or add applicants to unrelated marketing without separate consent.
Public information and uploads
Approved product names, copy, logos, cover images, builder display names, and listing details are public and may appear in social preview cards, editorial emails, search engines, and betas social posts. Do not upload confidential material or personal information that should not be public. Private contact email addresses and application answers are not published as part of a listing.
Service providers and disclosures
We use providers for hosting, databases, file storage, authentication, email delivery, DNS/security, and operational analytics. They process information for us under their service terms and safeguards. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the Service, in a business reorganization, or with your direction or consent.
Cookies and measurement
We use cookies or similar browser storage needed for sign-in, security, preferences, and saved submission drafts. Public engagement events use a privacy-oriented visitor identifier so we can reduce duplicate counting and abuse. Newsletter consent is separate from account, product, or beta-application messages.
Retention
We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, including account and listing administration, security, legal obligations, and dispute resolution. Retention varies by record: public listings may remain until removed, application and review records may remain while the beta is active and for a reasonable operational period afterward, and security logs and backups may remain for limited additional periods. An unsubscribe record may be retained to ensure we honor the request.
Security and international processing
We use access controls, encrypted connections, rate limits, and service-provider safeguards designed to protect information. No online service is perfectly secure. Providers may process information outside Israel; where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for those transfers.
Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information, object to or restrict certain uses, withdraw consent, or unsubscribe from editorial email. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already lawfully completed. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where law or legitimate security needs require it.
Children
betas is intended for people who are at least 18 years old, or otherwise legally able to agree to the Terms. We do not knowingly collect information from children through the Service.
Changes and contact
We may update this notice and will post the new effective date. For a privacy request or question, email privacy@betas.co.il. Include enough detail for us to identify the relevant account, application, or listing, but do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive data.
